I do hope by the time she reached the 28th she has made a decision for her. It seems foolish for Evanovich to keep dragging this on even after nine books she has written similar to how Joanna Fluke did in her Hannah Swensen series. The love triangle continues to exist between Morelli, Stephanie and Ranger. Although Evanovich has the male gumshoes much more stronger and balanced than her main heroine. And we continue to see the dilemma with regards to matters of heart between our heroine and her love-interests none of the three are ready to settle nor ready to let go. How is that? Why cant she decide on one person? In this plot we see her two-timing with both the heroes.

Although it irritated me that Stephanie has hots for both Ranger and Morelli. More mystery is spun around Ranger in this plot making him interesting. And Ranger's lair is the only safest place that she could go to before everything boils over and disappears. But then a contract is put on her head, and every gang member in Trenton, NJ is looking to kill her. Stephanie inadvertently becomes a witness to a robbery at a deli and realizes that she can identify the robber, Red Devil, as one of the members of the most vicious gangs in New Jersey.

The stories are told in first person narration. Readers have been entertained so far with 27 books in the series and more to come, beginning with One for the Money in 1994 leading up to the 28th book Game On: Tempting Twenty-Eight releasing in November of 2021. There is a triangle love story for readers senses to feast on as well. And in the process she solves mysteries enabling her to hone her skills.

That begins the series with every book an adventure into Stephanie's trail onto fugitives and recovering them. Stephanie Plum is a bounty hunter living in Trenton, New Jersey, working as a fugitive apprehension agent for her cousin, Vinnie's, Bail Bonds company.
